The loss puts the Bison (3-8-6, 1-3-4 PL) in a precarious position to qualify for the Patriot League Tournament with one game remaining in the regular season. Bucknell and American, who will square off on Wednesday night at Emmitt Field, are tied for eighth place on seven points, with Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Navy in the 5-6-7 spots with nine points. The Bison will need a win and some help in order to earn one of the six postseason bids. Colgate (9-4-4, 6-1-1 PL) won its fourth game in a row and is tied with Boston University for the league lead. The Raiders and Terriers will meet in Boston on Wednesday.
Bucknell had a great chance to score in the game's opening two minutes after a nice through ball from Gaby Parker sent Henna Andican in on a clean breakaway. But Colgate goalkeeper Ella Poppinga made a nice play to come off her line and take the ball off of Andican's foot.
Colgate countered with an early goal in the 14th minute. A cross in from the right side was poked to the center of the area, and Ellie Stokes cleaned it up. The Bison had some glimmers of pressure later in the half, but the Raiders added a second in the 38th minute when Jess Urena tapped in a rebound.
Just over a minute into the second half it was 3-0 after Ari Bezanson dribbled between a pair of defenders and notched her sixth goal of the season.
The Bison had plenty of fight left, however, and they got on the board when Scott notched her first career goal on a strong header from Ava Palladino's corner kick. Fourteen minutes later Bucknell made it 3-2 when Presley Sutter fed Connell on a 2v1 break, and Connell tucked a shot inside the left post for her fifth goal of the season.
Cool moment here for Caityn Scott, who cracks home a header for her first career goal! #rayBucknell

In the 78th minute, Josie Tunney was taken down just inside the 18, and Tunney converted from the penalty spot to make it 4-2.
The Bison still had some good chances in the final 10 minutes. Connell just missed the right post, and then Dani Howard won a bouncing ball in the area and was denied by a kick save from Poppinga.
Bucknell finished with a 16-14 shot advantage. Reese Dolan tallied three saves in the Bison net, and Poppinga had five for Colgate.
Bucknell and American will get going at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the regular-season finale at Emmitt Field.
