Bucknell Handles The Mount 13-9 on Senior Day for Third Straight Win

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell (7-10, 4-4 MAWPC) won its third straight game and improved to .500 in conference action with a 13-9 win over Mount St. Mary's (7-17, 1-5 MAWPC) on Saturday afternoon. The victory sweetened the Senior Day festivities for the Bison. The program recognized five seniors: Mateo Herrera, Jack Murad, Ian Shultz, Aleksa Stefanovic, and Maxime Touzot.Â
Stefanovic celebrated Senior Day in style by tying for the team lead in goals (3) with Greg Nordheim. Murad tallied two goals. Herrera received the start between the pipes and recorded 12 saves.Â
Bucknell never trailed in the contest courtesy of sprinting to a 3-0 lead. Mount St. Mary's drew within 4-3 midway through the second period. That awakened the Bison spirit and the Orange & Blue rallied for a 6-2 run to enter halftime with a 10-5 advantage. Tyler Hedblad and Nordheim each scored two goals during the stretch.Â
The third quarter featured a more defensive pace with the teams combining for only three goals. Bucknell tallied twice to Mount's one.Â
The fourth quarter started with Ori Raz scoring the Bison's 13th goal. Mount concluded the contest with three garbage time scores.Â
Bucknell plays Navy next Sunday at Mercyhurst in a crucial MAWPC matchup.Â
