Softball Drops 2-1 Game to Lehigh

Madison Roukey pitched a gem against the hot-hitting Mountain Hawks but the Bison could not generate enough offense against Lehigh's ace Katelyn Young. Two scattered runs were enough damage to turn the verdict in Lehigh's favor.

Roukey faced early trouble in the first inning when Emily Cimino tripled to center field with two outs. The junior hurler prevented any runs with a line out to first base.
Bucknell scored its sole run in the first inning. Haley Speicher reached on an error by the left fielder and ended up on second base. Brooke Popella singled to center field and MaKenzie Hilling singled through the left side to load the bases. Angelina Seropian hit a deep fly ball to score Speicher and give Bucknell a 1-0 lead.
Roukey continued to cruise through the Lehigh lineup, retiring ten straight Mountain Hawks. The streak ended in the fifth inning when Rory Dudley led off with a double. A perfect sacrifice bunt placed Dudley on third base. A grounder scored the runner and tied the game at 1-1.
Lehigh tacked on the winning run in the next inning. Peyton Sward singled through the left side to lead off the frame. A fielder's choice and a single followed. Roukey struck out Cimino for the second out and looked poised to escape the jam. However, Brooke Cannon hit the first offering for a double down the line, scoring a Mountain Hawk. A pop-up followed but Lehigh held the 2-1 advantage.
In Bucknell's last licks, Bella Radican hit a single with two outs but pinch hitter Molly Lawson struck out to end the game.
