Softball to Play Doubleheaders at Jacksonville and North Florida

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison softball team (9-11) completes its spring break expedition with a pair of doubleheaders against Jacksonville (9-12) and North Florida (14-8). Both squads are powerful southeastern opponents and will provide a good test for the Bison before Patriot League play. Bucknell went 3-2 at the Spring Games, defeating Central Michigan, Manhattan, and Siena and falling to reigning NEC Champion LIU and Columbia.

"We are excited to continue our tour of Florida by finishing our spring break in Jacksonville. Both Jacksonville and UNF are good teams for us to compete against and I know this week and our nonconference has prepared us for the upcoming Patriot League season. I'm looking forward to the competition and enjoying the sunshine for our final games."

Overview of the Opposition

Jacksonville - The Dolphins are 9-12 on the year but recently upset ranked Florida State, 6-5. Jacksonville's attack is led by a pair of sisters, Allison Bratek (.317) and Madison Bratek (.295). The sisters have combined to go 12-of-12 in stolen base attempts. Shelby Harpe is an ace of aces with a microscopic 0.59 ERA.
North Florida - The Ospreys are 14-8 on the season and recorded a win over Big 10 team Iowa. UNF played a doubleheader against Florida and lost both games. North Florida was recently at the Jacksonville Spring Break Challenge and went 3-0 against Marist and USC Upstate (2x). The Ospreys have three hitters above .340, Logan Jackson (.344), Madisyn Federico (.356), and Hadlee Reichert (.371). Allison Benning has been the staff ace with a 9-4 record and a 1.89 ERA.

History with the Foes

Jacksonville- This is the first match-up against the Dolphins. Head Coach Sarah Caffrey pitched for Jacksonville and carved out a record book career.
North Florida - Bucknell is 0-2 all-time against the Ospreys. Both games occurred in 2022.
