Men’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Verdict to Unbeaten Delaware

ELKTON, Md. – The Bucknell men's tennis team ran into an unbeaten Delaware team on Sunday afternoon, and the Blue Hens prevailed 6-1 at the Elkton Tennis Center. Tim Zelikovsky won a three-set match at No. 6 singles for Bucknell's point.

The Blue Hens (5-0), which had already claimed victories against Penn State, Penn, William & Mary, and Villanova, struck first by becoming the first team to take the doubles point from the Bison (3-2) this spring.

Amar Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald were headed to a tiebreaker at first doubles, but the match was halted when Delaware clinched the point with wins on Courts 2 and 3.

Straight-sets wins at second, third, and fourth singles clinched the match for the Blue Hens. Tahirovic at No. 1 and Liam Kilmer at No. 5 both won a set but fell in a third-set super tiebreaker.

Zelikovsky improved to a team-best 14-1 with his 7-6, 4-6, 10-5 win over Alexandre Gluck at No. 6 singles.

Bucknell returns to action on Friday against Mount St. Mary's at the Central PA Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
