SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell women's team made it back-to-back wins when it defeated Seton Hall 4-3 at the Central PA Tennis Center Saturday afternoon. The Bison swept the doubles point and took three of six in singles to earn their third dual win of the season.
Whitney King, Abby Platt and Tori Allen each picked up singles wins against the Pirates. It was the same trio that contributed to Bucknell's 4-3 win over Saint Francis last weekend. First, it was Platt taking care of business on court three in a hurry, defeating Seton Hall's Niamh Campbell 6-3, 6-0. The sophomore improved to 11-3 in overall singles and 4-2 in duals with the victory.
Allen earned her second straight singles win in decisive fashion on court six. The rookie dispatched junior Arabella Moen 6-2, 6-2 to move to 9-3 in singles in 2023-24.
King then clinched the match for a second week in a row, defeating freshman Anastasia Sereda 6-2, 6-3 on court one. King is now 10-5 overall and 4-3 in duals.
Bucknell's doubles teams cruised past the Pirates for the first point of the match. King and Platt defeated Moen and Hili Kronzon 6-1 to move to 14-1 on the season. Tyne Miller and Anna Lajos moved past Aina Plana Ventosa and Sereda with a 6-4 decision, improving to 5-2 as a tandem. Lastly, Madi Sebulsky joined Caroline Marcus in a 6-3 victory over Imogen Brooker and Campbell in their first match together this year.
Anna Lajos and Jaycie Mair both forced third sets in their matches before falling on courts two and five, respectively.
The Bison return to the Central PA Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 18 to face Delaware at 10 a.m.
