Women's Tennis Welcomes Seton Hall, Delaware to Central PA Tennis Center

Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison are back at the Central PA Tennis Center for two matches Saturday and Sunday in the midst of a five-match homestand. Bucknell will look to capture back-to-back wins after clinching a narrow 4-3 victory over Saint Francis last Friday.
• The Bison and the Red Flash sat tied at 3-3 in last weekend's dual before Whitney King clinched the victory with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Diana Zuba in first singles. She also joined Abby Platt in a win at No. 1 doubles, earning a Patriot League Tennis Player of the Week honorable mention for her efforts.
• Platt and Tori Allen also picked up singles wins over the Red Flash, while Anna Lajos and Tyne Miller clinched the doubles point with a win on court two.
• With their doubles win, King and Platt improved to 13-1 as a tandem this season. The pair are 28-5 since the start of last season, including a perfect 7-0 mark against Patriot League teams. King is currently tied for 12th in the Bucknell record book with 53 career doubles wins.
• Lajos and Platt are tied for the team lead with 10 singles wins each this season. Lajos led the team last year with 17 singles wins.
• Bucknell finished the 2022-23 campaign 13-13 (4-3 PL) and reached the Patriot League semifinal round for a second time under head coach Tammy Cecchini. The Bison defeated Colgate 4-0 in the quarterfinals for the program's 500th all-time victory in what was the 50th season of Bucknell women's tennis. At the end of the year, King was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
• Bucknell returned all eight members of last spring's roster and added two newcomers: Allen and Jaycie. The roster is comprised of three seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and the two rookies.
• Seniors Tyne Miller, Kate Novak and Madi Sebulsky are serving as team captains this season.
• Cecchini is in her fifth year leading the Bison. She owns a 38-36 record since arriving in Lewisburg.

Scouting Seton Hall
• The Pirates dropped to 2-3 with a 7-0 loss at Rutgers last Saturday. Their wins this season came against Wagner and Monmouth. They will also take on Rider on Friday before visiting the Bison.
• Freshmen Imogen Brooker and Niamh Campbell lead Seton Hall in singles wins with five each this season. Fellow rookie Anastasia Sereda has played all four duals at No. 1 singles and is 2-2 in that position. Brooker also leads the Pirates in doubles wins at 6-5.
• Seton Hall finished the 2022-23 season 6-14 (0-6 Big East) and fell to UConn in the first round of the conference tournament.
• Bucknell last faced Seton Hall in 2022 and defeated the Pirates 4-2 on the road. Bucknell collected four singles wins and took two of three in doubles play.
Scouting Delaware
• Delaware moved to 2-4 with a pair of narrow 4-3 losses to both Liberty and Virginia Tech last weekend. Its most recent win was a 5-2 decision over Navy on Feb. 4. The Blue Hens will also face Penn State on Saturday before visiting Bucknell.
• The Blue Hens return two of their four All-CAA honorees from a year ago in Eliza Askarova and Alina Vasilenko. Askarova was half of Delaware's NCAA Tournament-qualifying doubles team from last year. Sophomore Maryia Hrynashka currently leads the Blue Hens in singles wins with a 10-4 record.
• Delaware went 21-4 (7-1 CAA) last season and was upset by Drexel in the conference quarterfinal.
• Bucknell last faced Delaware in 2017 and fell 7-0.

• The Bison remain at home to host Villanova and Le Moyne at the Central PA Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25.
