Women's Water Polo Falls to No.19 Wagner and Mount St. Mary's

PRINCETON, N.J. - Bucknell women's water polo geared up for day two of the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. In the opening game of the day, the Bison fell 15-5 against No.19 Wagner. Bucknell fell 13-10 against Mount St. Mary's in the nightcap.

Game One: Wagner 15, Bucknell 5

The Bison fought an uphill battle against the Seahawks in the morning contest. Bucknell was held scoreless in the first quarter and was limited to one goal in the second quarter.

Wagner went on a 5-0 run to kick off play, seeing goals from fifth-year attacker Pip Nash, junior attacker Lizzy Koerper, senior center Andrea Arias, and two from junior attacker Carlota Alonso. Nash and Arias netted one a piece to end the half 7-1. Senior attacker Isabelle Monaghan scored the only half-goal for the Bison.

Bucknell had its best production during the third quarter, when junior attacker Boati Motau, sophomore attacker Bella Schraa, and freshman attacker Regan Coon all netted a goal.

Bucknell's final goal of the game came in the fourth quarter when junior center Izzy Lippolis ripped a shot into the net.Â

Game Two: Mount St. Mary's 13, Bucknell 10
Â
Bucknell and Mount St. Mary's met for the first time this season in game two of the day, and despite a valiant effort by the Bison it wasn't enough to capture the win.Â
Â
Monaghan and junior attack Sidney Finkler had standout games against the Mount. Monaghan scored four goals while Finkler earned herself a hat trick.

Mount St.Mary's maintained an aggressive pace from the start, earning an 8-5 lead in the first half. Junior utility Rebecca Valentine netted five goals, not far behind freshman utility Anita Radaelli, who netted three for the Mount in the first half.Â

The Bison also received goals from Motau, Gwen Kallmeyer, and Anna Plante.

The Bison are back in action on Sunday at 8 a.m. against Siena for their final game at the Princeton Invitational. Bucknell defeated the Saints 13-9 at Harvard two weeks ago.Â
