About the Meet
- The Bucknell swimming and diving teams continue their busy home schedule on Saturday when Patriot League rivals American, Lafayette, and Navy visit Kinney Natatorium for a quad meet.
- Navy has competed in a few multi-team meets already, and the Midshipmen men are 5-2 and the women 4-3. Both teams fell to Penn State and LSU and have wins over UMBC, William & Mary, George Mason, and Loyola. The men defeated George Washington while the women dropped a close meet.
- Navy has been the Patriot League's dominant team. The men have won 20 straight Patriot League Championships dating back to Bucknell's win in 2003. The women have won 12 straight and 22 total PL titles. Bucknell is 7-19 all-time in duals against Navy on the women's side, while the men are 1-20. The Bison swept the Mids in this quad meet in 2013.
- American's men and women are both 2-3 this season with wins over Catholic and Howard and losses to UMBC, Georgetown, and Loyola. American's men were 10th and the women eighth at the 2024 Patriot League Championships. Bucknell has fared well against the Eagles. The women are 18-1 all-time with 17 straight wins, and the men are 16-2 with 16 straight victories.
- Lafayette's men have beaten Colgate and lost to Loyola this season, while the Leopards' women dropped duals to those same two teams. The men were seventh and the women 10th at last year's Patriot League Championships. The Bison have dominated the all-time series, as the men are 59-4 with 28 straight wins, and the women are 41-2 with 16 straight victories. Â Â
- The Bison women are off to an outstanding start in 2024-25. After winning 13 of 16 events in a  215-84 victory over Boston University in the season opener, the Bison came back and won 10 races against Seton Hall and Binghamton at the non-scored Bison Fall Invite two weeks ago.
- The win over the Terriers avenged last year's dual-meet loss to the Terriers. The Bison also finished one spot behind Boston University at the 2024 Patriot League Championships.
- Freshman Clara Renner has been a breakout star early in the season. The Massachusetts native already has five individual wins in five different events, and she has written her name on three different top-10 lists. Renner swept the 500 free, 1000 free, and 200 fly against Boston University, and she won the 200 free and 200 IM at the Fall Invite. She is now fifth all-time in the 200 free (1:49.39), eighth in the 200 IM (2:02.85), and ninth in the 200 fly (2:03.24).
- Classmate Sydney Jee also had an impressive debut with a sweep of the breaststroke events against Boston University. Sam Benzija then won the 200 breast and Hanna Bingley the 100 breast at the Fall Invite.
- The versatile Kyla Kelly had a big day against Seton Hall and Binghamton. She won the 100 free and 400 IM along with a third-place finish in the 50 free, and she now has four wins on the season.
- The Bison won both diving events at the Fall Invite, with Meghan Catherwood and Natalie Penman going 1-2 in the 1-meter event, and Reggie Frias winning on the 3-meter board. Catherman was third and Penman fourth in the 3-meter competition.
- The Bison men have also had some good swims early in the season. They dropped a close dual to Boston University that came down to the last relay, and then Bucknell nabbed two wins and five runner-up finishes against Seton Hall and Binghamton two weeks ago at the Bison Fall Invite.
- Senior Chris Kopac already has four individual wins in two meets. He captured the 100 and 200 free against Boston University and took the 100 breast and 400 IM, along with a close third in the 50 free, at the Fall Invite.
- Kopac edged teammate Riley Twiss by just .11 seconds in a great 400 IM race two weeks ago.
- Justin DiSanto won the 50 free and was second to Kopac in the 100 free against the Terriers, and then he had a strong runner-up finish in the 100 fly at the Fall Invite.
- Bucknell's divers are also off to strong starts, and Jack Krug and Jackson Vinarub have already set PRs on the 3-meter board. Vinarub's 307.8 against Boston University moved him up to the No. 2 spot on Bucknell's all-time list, and Krug's 299.5 at the Fall Invite moved him up from seventh to fifth.
- This is the third of nine home meets for the Bison this season, culminating with the 2025 Patriot League Championships Feb. 19-22.
- Next up is the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium Nov. 22-24. This is a three-day trials/finals meet designed to emulate the postseason championships later in the season.
