• Bucknell has started 2-2 this season with victories over Kent State and EIWA member Morgan State and losses to Maryland and #8 Minnesota.Â
• Three Bison wrestlers have posted positive win-loss records: Chappell (3-1), Takats (4-0) and Bechtold (3-1).Â
• Four Bison appeared in the national rankings this week.
• The Bison had the No. 25 recruiting class in the country by Intermat.
• Head coach Dan Wirnsberger is in his 19th season with the Bison and his 20th year leading the program since its revival in 2005.Â
A Look Back at the Minnesota Dual
• The Bison were defeated 35-3 at #8 Minnesota. Bucknell fought hard and battled the Golden Gophers but the Big 10 powerhouse was too much for the Orange & Blue.Â
• Myles Takats provided the sole Bucknell victory when he upset No. 8 Cade Whitling 11-9 for a decision.Â
• The upset triumph provided Takats for his first-ever EIWA Wrestler of the Week. It was the program's first weekly honor since Nov. 7, 2023 when Noah Mulvaney received the laurel.Â
A Look Back at the 2023 Navy Classic
• The Bison finished fourth out of 14 teams by winning 112.5 points.
• Phipps won the 133-pound grouping going 4-0, including a win over No. 31 Jacob Van Dee (Nebraska). The achievement unlocked Bison of the Week for him. Chappell finished 4-1 to earn second place. Wirnsberger finished third (3-1). All three return this year for the Bison.Â
A Look Ahead
• Bucknell returns to action on Dec. 7 versus Wisconsin at Davis Gym for the home opener.Â
