LEWISBURG, Pa.- Meghan Quinn adds to her trophy case after being named the Patriot League Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Quinn receives the honor for her dominant performance at the Nittany Lion Challenge. She became the first Bison to win the honor since Christine Bendzinski earned it on Jan. 30, 2018.Â
"When I evaluate development, I look at where an athlete is at now compared to one year ago to the day," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Meghan is more than a half-second faster in the 200-meter dash this year than at last year's Nittany Lion Challenge. She is off to a great start. She also ran a 54-second split in the 4x400-meter relay, which is great for early January."
Quinn finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.41. The mark would rank third in Bucknell history if the senior speedster didn't own the top spot. She only trailed two Power Five athletes and a junior runner from UMBC. Her 200-meter mark currently ranks 56th among NCAA Division I runners.
She was a quartet member with Katie Loew, Colleen Linko, and Anna Posh, who raced to sixth place (3:50.89) in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome displayed great promise as the Bison worked to replicate the magnificent 4x400 group of 2022-23.
This is the first time that Quinn won the Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award. She won the Outdoor equivalent on Apr. 11, 2023.Â
Quinn and the Bison return to action this Saturday at the Gulden Invite.Â
