Softball Ships Up to Boston for Patriot League Tournament

LEWISBURG, Pa,- The Bucknell Bison softball team (16-28, 8-10 PL) will make their first Patriot League Tournament appearance since 2019 when it plays #1 seed Boston University tomorrow. The Bison won their last six conference games against Holy Cross and Lafayette to qualify for the tournament.

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison

The Bison are making their first appearance in the Patriot League Tournament since 2019 and the first showing under third-year head coach Sarah Caffrey.
Bucknell had three players named to the All-Patriot League Teams. Zoie Smith was slotted as First Team catcher. Savannah Jones was selected as at-large, and Chase Knapp grabbed shortstop on the Second Team roster.
Zoie Smith kept the postseason award train going by being named to the Academic All-Patriot League team.
Smith currently ranks 10th in the nation in doubles per game (.34).

Overview of the Opposition

Boston stands at 48-8, 17-1 PL, and recently has become ranked #25 in one of the polls. The Terriers dominated the all-league teams and swept all five major awards. As a team, Boston is hitting over .330 and their pitching staff relies primarily on two aces in Allison Boaz and Kasey Ricard.

History with the Foe

The Terriers are 22-7 all-time against the Bison and have won the last ten matchups, including all three games in Lewisburg this season.
