Men’s Tennis Back in Win Column with 6-1 Decision at Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – A 6-0 win from seniors Nick Mueller and Michael Owen at No. 1 doubles set the tone for the day, and the Bucknell men's tennis team went on to defeat Lafayette 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Bison bounced back from a close loss to Navy a day earlier and improved to 13-6 on the season and 3-2 in Patriot League play.
Brendan McDonald and Tim Zelikovsky clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3, and then Bison went on to post five straight-set singles wins.
Amar Tahirovic defeated Arman Ganchi 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles spot. Mueller won his opening set in a tiebreaker on the way to a 7-6, 6-4 win over Jake Magnusson at No. 2. Zelikovsky (6-1, 6-4), McDonald (6-4, 6-2), and Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega (6-3, 6-0) all won handily in the bottom three spots in the lineup.
Lafayette (2-10, 1-3 PL) earned its lone point at No. 3 singles, where Nick McKenzie held off Owen in a third-set supertiebreak.
Bucknell has two matches remaining in the regular season, both coming on the road next weekend. The Bison visit Lehigh on Saturday and Holy Cross on Sunday, with both contests starting at noon.
