Men’s Tennis Clipped by Lehigh, 4-3

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 verdict in a tightly contested Patriot League match at Lehigh on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks benefitted from the doubles point and two come-from-behind three-set wins in singles.
Bison freshmen Amar Tahirovic and Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega both had 2-0 days. They teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and then won close singles matches. Tahirovic was a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 winner over Matt Kleiman at No. 1 singles, and Bain closed out the match with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Michael Bukhalo at No. 6.
Tim Zelikovsky was also a straight-set winner for the Bison, 6-4, 6-3 over Jason Morash at No. 5.
Lehigh won at first and third doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match and then got a 6-4, 7-5 win from Mark Blekhman at No. 3 singles. Jeremy Learner at No. 2 and Jordan Paul at No. 4 both lost their opening sets but fought back to win to give the Mountain Hawks (11-9, 4-3 PL) a win in their regular-season finale.
Bucknell (13-7, 3-3 PL) wraps up its regular season on Sunday at Holy Cross. The Patriot League Tournament gets underway next Thursday at Colgate.
