Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison have two matches remaining in the regular season, both on the road this weekend at Lehigh and Holy Cross. Both matches will have seeding implications with the Patriot League Tournament coming up next week at Colgate.
- Bucknell split two matches last weekend, falling 5-2 to Navy at home before defeating Lafayette 6-1 on the road. The Bison had a chance to beat Navy for the first time in 48 all-time meetings, as the last two singles matches on the courts went to third sets, but the Midshipmen clinched it at No. 1 singles.
- Bucknell won the doubles point against Navy and also received an impressive straight-set win from freshman Brendan McDonald at No. 6 singles.
- The Bison again took the doubles point in the Lafayette match and claimed five of the six singles tilts in straight sets.
- Bucknell has claimed the doubles point in 15 of its last 16 dual matches, and the Bison have a collective 57-29 overall record in doubles and a 36-14 mark in duals this season.
- McDonald is now 24-4 in doubles this season, including 15-2 in duals, while Nick Mueller is 17-4 overall and 11-4 in duals.
- Leading the way in singles is freshman Amar Tahirovic, who is now 21-8 over the full season, 12-5 in the spring, and 6-1 in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. McDonald is next with 17 wins, followed by Michael Owen and Tim Zelikovsky with 15 apiece.
- The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 5-2 win over arch-rival Lafayette on Tuesday in Easton.
- Matt Kleiman has been playing in the No. 1 spot in the lineup this spring. He is 8-10 in dual matches and 4-1 in Patriot League play.
- Marc Blekhman has a team-best 13-5 record, including a 7-1 mark at No. 3 singles and a 5-2 record at No. 4.
- Jeremy Learner and Jordan Paul are 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
- Lehigh has a narrow 45-41 lead in an all-time series that dates back to 1921. The series was tied at 41 until the Mountain Hawks claimed the last four in a row, including a 4-1 verdict at the Central PA Tennis Center last April.
- Bucknell's lone point in last year's dual came from Tim Zelikovsky at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3 over Gary Fishkin.
- Holy Cross is coming off a 4-3 home win over Sacred Heart on Tuesday. Camilo Illanes came from a set down to win at No. 6 singles and clinch the win for the Crusaders.
- Jeremy Clark has been the primary No. 1 man for Holy Cross. He is 5-13 overall and 3-10 in dual matches this season.
- Declan O'Flynn leads the team with 10 singles wins and is 4-0 in duals at No. 4 singles.
- Bucknell is 13-0 all-time against Holy Cross. The two teams have not met since 2019, when the Bison won 4-0 at West Point.
- The Patriot League Tournament starts Apr. 20 at Colgate. The Bison will have a bye into the quarterfinal round and will play an opponent to be determined on Friday, Apr. 21.
