
Men's Lacrosse Downed by No. 8 Army, 12-7

WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 8 Army put together a big second half and outscored the Bucknell men's lacrosse team 8-2 over the final 30 minutes to remain unbeaten in Patriot League play with a 12-7 win. Bucknell led 5-3 late in the second quarter before the 8-1 (5-0 PL) Black Knights caught fire.
The Black Knights put together a pair of 4-0 runs throughout the middle stages of the game.
Army maintained an 18-5 advantage in faceoffs, including winning 10 of 11 in the first half, but Bucknell managed to carry a 5-4 lead into the locker rooms. The Bison continued to get shots off in the second half, but goalie Matt Chess turned away 10 over the final 30 minutes. Army currently leads the nation in scoring defense.
Bucknell's Jaz Zanelli finished with 15 saves. Michael Meyer led all Bison with three points on a goal and a pair of assists. Jack Feda scored two goals, and Cam Doolan added a goal and an assist. Bucknell scored on three of its six man-up opportunities.
The two teams traded goals over the first 20 minutes of action before Doolan and Meyer finally scored back to back to give Bucknell the first multi-goal lead of the game at 5-3 with 3:15 to play in the first half. Army got the final word in the second frame, however, scoring with 1:05 to play.
The Black Knights proceeded to score the first three goals of the third quarter as well, taking their first lead of the game, and Bucknell was unable to recover.
Connor Davis scored Bucknell's only goal of the third with 2:52 to go in the frame, and Feda scored his second with 5:26 to play in the game. Both Evan Plunkett and Reese Burek posted three points for Army.
Bucknell returns to Lewisburg next weekend to host Lehigh on Saturday, April 8.
