
Women's Tennis Suffers 7-0 Road Loss to College of Charleston

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Bucknell women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss against College of Charleston Sunday morning, opening a stretch of three matches it will play in South Carolina over the course of four days.
Both Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus forced third sets, and several sets were decided by tiebreakers, but the Cougars ultimately prevailed. Additionally, Abby Platt and Whitney King were tied up at 5-5 in their No. 1 doubles match before the point was clinched by the Cougars with wins at second and third doubles.
Lajos won the first set 7-6 (4) over Maja Jekauc before losing the next two 6-2, 10-6 to surrender the No. 2 singles point. Marcus, playing at No. 6 singles, fell 2-6, 6-4, 10-3 to McKenzie Daniel.
The Cougars sealed the win at No. 1 singles, as Slade Coetzee won 6-2, 6-4 over Whitney King at the top singles position. Tyne Miller also lost a narrow second set against Jekauc 7-6 (4) in the No. 3 spot.
College of Charleston, which is coming off an impressive 19-7 (7-1 CAA) 2021-22 season, improved to 9-4 this season with the home victory. For the Bison, it was just their second loss over the last month.
Bucknell returns to action on Monday with a match against South Carolina State at 1 p.m.
