
Women's Tennis Downed by South Carolina State, 5-2

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Whitney King and Anna Lajos scored wins in the top two singles positions, and Madi Sebulsky joined Caroline Marcus in a win at No. 3 doubles, but South Carolina State ended up defeating the Bucknell women's tennis team 5-2 Monday afternoon.
The doubles matches started out in Bucknell's favor, with Sebulsky and Marcus defeating Rachida Berjane and Malannia Vashkevich 6-4. The Bulldogs countered with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to stake a 1-0 lead.
South Carolina State then rattled off three straight singles wins at No. 5, No. 3 and No. 4 to clinch the match.
King improved to 6-5 on the season when playing at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Soyfa Vitaliyena Chursina, and Lajos collected her team-high 14th singles win by defeating Berjane 6-5, 4-6, 10-6.
Mirra Manolov also forced a third set in her match against Malannia Vashkevich at No. 6 singles, but she was edged 6-3, 7-6 (5), 11-9.
The Bison will take Tuesday off before wrapping up their spring break trip with a match at Charleston Southern at noon on Wednesday.
