About the Bison
- The Bucknell men's golf squad is off to Myrtle Beach for Spring Break, where the Bison will take on a strong field in the two-day Bash at the Beach, hosted by Appalachian State.
- This is Bucknell's second spring event. Two weeks ago, the Bison posted two under-par team scores and finished T-6th out of 19 teams at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley GC in Arizona. This week, Bucknell will send out the same five-man lineup: Jackson Bussell, Blake Wisdom, Michael Rudnick, Andres Barraza, and James Key. James Robbins and Josh Holtschlag will also play as individuals.
- Bussell was the low man for the Bison in Arizona, posting rounds of 74-68-71 for a 1-under total of 213. That was good for a T-17th finish. His second-round 68 matched his career low and featured an eagle and five birdies. Bussell's other 68 came at last year's Patriot League Championship.
- Barraza was the star of the final round for the Bison, posting a career-best, 3-under 69. He made five birdies on the way to his first collegiate under-par round.
- Bucknell's 862 at the Loyola Intercollegiate was the fifth-best 54-hole total in team history.
- Seniors Wisdom and Bucknell share the team lead for low scoring average at 72.1, including the fall season. The duo has combined for 10 under-par rounds.
- Rudnick shot 75-71-73 at Palm Valley, picking up where he left off after a strong finish to the fall season. His 73.4 full-season average is now third-best on the team.
- This will be Bucknell's first appearance in this event.
- Troy won last year's Bash at the Beach with a 24-under total of 828 (275-278-275), nosing out host Appalachian State by three shots. Marquette (-17), Long Island (-17), Connecticut (-16), Rider (-9), Radford (-1), and Delaware (-1) also finished under par over 54 holes.
- UConn's Tommy Dallahan was the 2022 medalist with a 12-under 201 (67-69-65). Appalachian State's Sverrir Haraldsson closed with a 63 but ended up one short after finishing at 11-under.
- Bucknell's busy spring slate continues in two weeks with an appearance at the UC San Diego Invitational at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.
- The 2023 Patriot League Championship will be at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md., Apr. 28-30.
