INDIANA, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team defeated IUP 4-3 on the road Saturday for its second win of the weekend and its fifth straight. The Bison fell 4-2 to Findlay later in the day to conclude its weekend.
Bucknell claimed the two top doubles spots to jump out to a 1-0 lead over the Crimson Hawks, and it won three of six in singles. It was Tyne Miller's dramatic three-set win at No. 2 singles that sealed the match. The junior won 6-3, 5-7, 17-15 over IUP's Joanna Stralka.
Abby Platt also walked away with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win at No. 3 singles, and Caroline Marcus won 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 position.
Platt also earned a win at No. 1 doubles playing alongside Whitney King, while Miller joined Anna Lajos for a win in the No. 2 doubles spot.
In the second match of the day, the Oilers swept the doubles point and won at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to hand Bucknell its first loss in over two weeks. Lajos and Platt finished with Bucknell's two wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Platt ended the weekend 3-0 in singles.
Bucknell jumps back into Patriot League play when it hosts Loyola next. The Greyhounds, who defeated Bucknell in last year's PL quarterfinals, visit Lewisburg on Friday, March 3. Bucknell then hosts Marist on Sunday, March 5 for its Pride Game.
