
Women's Tennis Plays Host to Loyola Friday, Marist Sunday

• Bucknell is 7-7 (0-1 PL) following wins over Siena and IUP and a loss to Findlay last weekend. The Bison have won five of their last six matches.
• Freshman Abby Platt went 3-0 in singles over the weekend and now leads the team in dual match singles victories. She also leads the team in overall doubles wins with 12. Platt was named an honorable mention for Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week for a second straight week on Tuesday.
• Anna Lajos added another win to her season ledger and remains the team's leader in overall single wins with 11.
• Bucknell went 12-10 (3-3 PL) during the 2021-22 season, securing its highest win total since 2018-19. The Bison ended up falling to Loyola in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships, 4-2.
• The Bison graduated their lone All-Patriot Leaguer, Daniela Bellini, in the spring. They welcomed two freshmen in the fall and entered the spring season with eight total on the roster.
• Juniors Kate Novak and Tyne Miller are serving as team captains this season.
• Bucknell played its first seven matches of the spring on the road before hosting its first home match on Feb. 19.
• Bucknell is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tammy Cecchini. She was previously the head coach at Valparaiso from 2015 to 2018 and spent the 2014-15 season with Valpo as an assistant coach.
• Cecchini collected the 30th win of her career with the Bison on Saturday with a 4-3 victory over IUP.

Loyola at a Glance
• The Greyhounds are 3-3 (0-0 PL) following wins over Chestnut Hill and Norfolk State last weekend. They also have a win over Hampton this season.
• Loyola went 14-6-1 (3-3 PL) last season and finished fifth in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds reached the semifinal round of the Patriot League semifinals before falling to runner-up Boston U. Loyola returned 2022 Second Team All-Patriot League selection Olivia Tracey.
• Freshman Christine Richiez currently leads the Greyhounds with a 6-0 singles record in duals. Meanwhile, Tracey has played all six duals at No. 1 singles and is 3-3. Richiez and Lauren Manwiller are 3-0 playing at No. 2 doubles.
• Bucknell has won six of the last eight meetings with the Greyhounds. Most recently, Loyola defeated the Bison 4-2 in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Patriot League Championships. Bucknell swept the doubles point and picked up a win at No. 1 singles, but the Greyhounds rattled off four straight singles victories to end Bucknell's season.
Marist at a Glance
• Marist enters the weekend 2-4 (0-0 MAAC) and will face UMass on Friday before visiting Bucknell. The Red Foxes' two wins were over Binghamton and Lehigh, and they also have a 4-0 loss at Army.
• The Red Foxes were picked to finish fifth in the 2023 preseason poll after going 4-10 (2-4 MAAC) last season.
• Junior Deana Giambo has played every match at No. 1 singles and is 2-3 this spring. Marist's top doubles tandem of Jane Bockman and Ellen Zureick is 1-5 in the No. 1 position.
• Bucknell is 6-2 in the all-time series with Marist. The Bison won 5-0 in last year's matchup, sweeping the doubles point and collecting four straight wins at the No. 2-5 singles positions. Whitney King, Tyne Miller and Anna Lajos all won their matches in straight sets. Bucknell also won 4-3 in the 2020 meeting.

• Bucknell will spend its spring break in Charleston, S.C., where it will face College of Charleston on Sunday, March 12, South Caroline State on Monday, March 13, and Charleston Southern on Wednesday, March 15.
