Women's Basketball Heads East to Easton for Game at Lafayette

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's basketball team (12-15, 8-8 PL), coming off a two-game losing streak, travels to Lafayette (8-18, 5-11 PL) to stop the slide and regain momentum heading into the Patriot League Tournament. The Bison are currently tied for fifth with Colgate.Â
Bucknell and Lafayette previously met on Jan 8. at Sojka, where the Bison prevailed 56-44. Bucknell has won 17 straight over the Leopards in a series that dates to 1977.Â

• Bucknell lost 84-72 to hot-shooting Lehigh, which dropped the Bison out of competition for the third seed. Lehigh generally owned the first half hitting three-pointers and inputting easy shots. The Bison shot well to keep up and only be down 43-34 at halftime. Bucknell exploded in the third quarter outscoring the Mountain Hawks 27-13 to grab a 61-56 lead. However, Lehigh owned the fourth quarter 28-11 to pull away with the win. The Bison are now 12-15 and 8-8 in the Patriot League this season following the defeat.Â
• The Bison relied on youth through their first thirteen games. The starting combo of Dingler, Johnson, King, Shaffer, and Theodorsson stepped up to win five of their eight games while Cecelia Collins was out with an injury. Since her return, the Bison are 3-2.
• Against American, on Feb. 11, 2023, Emma Shaffer earned her seventh career double-double by scoring 12 points and obtaining 21 rebounds. Her 21 rebounds were two away from the Patriot League record.Â
