Women's Basketball Travels to Colgate for Pivotal Patriot League Game

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Fifth place and the potential to host a tournament game are on the line when the Bucknell Bison women's basketball team (10-13, 6-6 PL) travels to picturesque Hamilton, N.Y. to play the Colgate Raiders (12-11, 6-6 PL). The Bison are riding a season-best four-game winning streak. Colgate defeated Bucknell 64-57 in overtime at Sojka Pavilion on Jan. 14.Â

• Bucknell won its fourth-straight game as the Bison defeated Navy, 70-49. The Bison seized control from the opening quarter by posting a 19-4 score. Navy never led and only threatened once during a brief run in the second quarter. Bucknell was up by 14 at halftime and never looked back. The Bison reached 70 points for the second time this season. The Bison are now 10-13 and 6-6 in the Patriot League this season following the victory.Â
• The Bison relied on youth through their first thirteen games. Most recent starters have been a mixture of combinations and classes due to injuries. But the starting combo of Dingler, Johnson, King, Shaffer, and Theodorsson stepped up to win five of their eight games while Cecelia Collins was out with injury.Â
• Against Army, on Jan. 18, 2023, Emma Shaffer earned her fourth career double-double by scoring 15 points and obtaining 15 rebounds.Â
• Emma Shaffer equaled 300 career rebounds against Boston U. on Jan. 2, 2023, and Isabella King collected her 100th career rebound against Lehigh on Jan. 5, 2023.
• Isabella King scored her 300th career point against Army on Feb. 4, 2023.Â
• Bucknell finished 24-10 overall and 12-6 in Patriot League play last season. The Bison reached the 2022 Patriot League Championship game playing as the No. 4 seed in the tournament, but they fell 65-54 to the No. 2 seed American.
• Bucknell received an at-large bid to the 2022 WNIT and defeated Fordham in the first round before falling to Drexel in the second. Bucknell is the only Patriot League team with two all-time WNIT victories.

• Head coach Trevor Woodruff is in his fourth season at Bucknell. He was named PL Coach of the Year in his first two seasons.
• Following the retirement of assistant coach Jim Reed during the offseason, Kelly Mazzante was elevated to associate head coach, and former manager of basketball operations LaSashia Connelly was named an assistant coach. Molly Gillis joined the staff during the offseason as the program's new manager of ops.
SCOUTING Colgate
• The Raiders are 9-7 overall and 3-2 in Patriot League play earning victories over Cornell, Niagara, Albany, NJIT, Oswego State, St. Bonaventure, Lehigh, Navy, Army, Bucknell, American, and Lehigh. They were defeated by Syracuse, Canisius, Merrimack, Harvard, Siena, Loyola, Boston U., Holy Cross, American, Boston U., and Lafayette.
• This season, Bucknell and Colgate overlapped in nonconference play by sharing three common opponents outside the mandated conference foes. The results were similar as well.
Both Bucknell and Colgate defeated Cornell and St. Bonaventure and fell to Syracuse.
• Colgate was selected to finish seventh in the Patriot League. They lost in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament last season to Navy
