About Bucknell
- Bucknell defeated two Old Line State squads in Loyola (Md.) and Navy in Davis Gym last weekend. The Bison swept Loyola for the second time this season and then sunk Navy in four sets to avenge the earlier five-set loss in Annapolis. Catherine Jamison led the way with 32 kills over the weekend. Bucknell improved to 13-9 overall and 9-4 in Patriot League competition. The Bison are now one game behind Army and Colgate for first place.Â
- Bucknell will play Lafayette on Saturday and Lehigh on Sunday. Both contests will be streamed on ESPN+, and live stats will be available for both games. The links are in this article and on the Bucknell volleyball schedule page.Â
- Bucknell is 15-12 in non-conference matchups under Head Coach Tyler Hagstrom. Last season, the Bison were 7-2 in non-conference games, including a 6-0 start. That start was the best in Bucknell's history.Â
- The Bison were picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll. Reigning champion Colgate was selected to repeat as title-winners. Jordan Hardy was crowned Preseason Libero of the Year. It is the first time a Bucknell libero was awarded the honor. She led the Patriot League in digs (591), 71 more than the nearest opposition, and digs per serve (5.68). Her digs per serve mark ranked her fifth in the nation. Hardy was All-Patriot League Second Team last season.Â
- The Orange & Blue return most of their offensive and defensive prowess. Bri Frazilus, the 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, totaled 293 kills to lead the team and finish fifth in the Patriot League. Senior Catherine "Cat" Jamison collected 263 kills and 277 points, both top-ten in the Patriot League. Along with the returners, the Bison welcome five newcomers to the squad.Â
- Hagstrom enters his fourth season at the helm of the Bison herd. He is joined by third-year assistant Jeremy Young and newly hired assistant coach Haylie Clark, who recently graduated from Elon after a stellar playing career. Hagstrom passed Victoria May for fourth-most career wins in school history.Â
- Bucknell ranks third nationally in digs per set (17.57).Â
- Jordan Hardy currently leads the Patriot League in digs per set (5.50) and ranks 7th nationally.Â
- Hardy recently moved in third all-time for career digs in Bucknell history. She now has 1,436 in her tenure.Â
- Hardy has 462 digs on the season, which ties her with Brandi Trapasso for fifth all-time in Bucknell single-season history.Â
- Sidney Shaffer is fifth (.287) in the PL for hitting percentage.Â
- Jamison continues her sensational senior season as third in kills (270) and fifth in points (300.5).
- Bucknell is tied for third in the PL at 9-4 with American and will play the Eagles in the regular season finale. Â
- The Bison swept the PL weekly awards on Oct. 24 for the first time since 2000. Jamison won Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, and Shaffer took home Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Jamison's honor was the first time for a Bison player since 2018, and Shaffer picked up her second Rookie of the Week award.Â
- The Leopards are 9-12 on the season and 5-8 in Patriot League play. Lafayette has lost its last five out of six league games, only defeating Holy Cross during the stretch.Â
- Lafayette finished 8-15 in 2022, with a 5-11 mark in Patriot League play. They did not participate in the Patriot League Tournament.
- Emma Patman leads the team with 153 kills.
- Abby Nieporte is second with 145 kills. Her last name should sound similar to Bucknell fans as she is the sister of Bucknell player Libby Nieporte.
- Lafayette was picked eighth in the Patriot League League preseason poll.Â
- Christian Kiselica starts his first season as head coach of the Lafayette program.
- Bucknell is 48-27 all-time against Lafayette. The Bison already defeated the Leopards in Easton this season.Â
- The Mountain Hawks are 12-12 overall and 4-9Â in Patriot League play. Lehigh has swept Holy Cross, beat Loyola (Md.), notched a win over Navy, and upset Army for its four conference wins. The Mountain Hawks are 1-7 on the road, with the sole victory over UConn.Â
- Lehigh finished 13-15Â overall and 4-12 in the Patriot League in 2022. They did not qualify for the Patriot League Tournament.Â
- Megan Schulte leads the Mountain Hawks with 318 kills, one of the top marks in the circuit.Â
- Lehigh was selected to finish seventh in the Patriot League Preseason Poll.Â
- Head coach Alexis Keckler is in her 6th season in command. Â
- Bucknell is 31-55Â all-time against Lehigh. The Bison defeated Lehigh earlier in the season.Â
- The Bison complete the regular season with a showdown at American on Nov. 11.Â
