BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell women's swim & dive team was narrowly edged by Boston U. 157-143 on the road Saturday. The Bison moved to 1-1 on the young season after defeating Holy Cross on Friday. Six different Bison won individual events, and the Bison went 1-2-3 in the 100 breaststroke.
Rylie Giles and Sydney Dettmann both posted freestyle wins, and Giles has now won three different individual events this weekend. She posted victories in the 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly Friday and added a win in the 200 freestyle on Saturday.
Dettmann won the 500 freestyle on Saturday and added another win in 200 butterfly to cap a strong first weekend of collegiate swimming.
Kate Handley, Hanna Bingley and Kyla Kelly were Bucknell's other event winners on Saturday. Handley, who touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke, was followed by second-place finisher Liz Dokina and third-place Bingley in the event.
The Terriers' win snapped a Bison streak of five consecutive wins in the series.
Bucknell returns to Kinney Natatorium next weekend to host the Fall Invite.
