Bison Women Collect Seven Medals; Sit in Second After Day Two of ECAC Championships

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's swimming and diving team won seven medals and sit in second place at the ECAC Championships at Kinney Natatorium on Saturday. The Bison have 362 behind first-place Navy with 597 points.
Clara Renner won silver and Hanna Bingley took bronze as both set new top-10 times in their respective events. Virginia Hastings and Tessa Feld both won silver, and Bolden earned a bronze medal. Bucknell's 200 medley relay team and 800 freestyle relay team both took bronze.
Natalia Gajecki, Bingley, Talia Bugel and Ashley Piacentino kicked off the night in the 200 medley relay with a bronze medal and a time of 1:43.01.
Feld followed up with a second-place finish in the 400 IM to take silver. Her time of 4:28.73 earned 17 points for the Bison.
Renner then took the silver medal in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.50. That time ranks third in school history. Joslin Halsey (57.84), Piacentino (58.00), and Bugel (58.47) all swam in the B-Final to combine for 13 points.
Hastings took silver and Bolden took the bronze in the 200 freestyle. Hastings swam a time of 1:49.15 and was less than two-tenths of a second away from a gold medal. Bolden was right behind her with a time of 1:49.66. Hanna Klingensmith (1:52.94) took second in the B-Final and Lily Matthews (1:55.06) also swam in the B-Final.
In the 100 breaststroke, Bingley took third with a personal-best 1:02.54. Her time is the second-fastest time in school history. Kyla Kelly took fifth in the A-Final with a time of 1:03.96 and Kelly Byrne took seventh with a time of 1:04.79. Keira Giles (1:06.96) competed in the B-Final.
Gajecki took fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.29 and Talia Bugel won the B-Final with a time of 56.81.
The Bison ended the night with another bronze medal in the 800 freestyle relay. Klingensmith, Feld, Matthews and Claire Kehley swam a time of 7:41.69, just three-tenths of a second ahead of Loyola.
The Bison are back in action for the final day on Sunday at Kinney Natatorium, with preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. and finals beginning at 4 p.m.
