Bussell in Top 10 as Men’s Golf Opens Season at Alex Lagowitz Memorial

RESULTS
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Jackson Bussell posted a 3-under-par 141 with rounds of 72-69, leading Bucknell on a busy opening day at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, hosted by Colgate at Seven Oaks Golf Club. The Bison fashioned 294 and 296 team totals and are tied for ninth place after 36 holes.
Bussell made four birdies on the way to the even-par 72 in the morning round, and then he really got it going on the back nine in the afternoon. After starting his round on the sixth hole, Bussell made five birdies in a six-hole span from 12-17. He gave two shots back with a double-bogey at the 18th, but then finished up with four pars and a birdie to shoot 69.
Bussell's 11 birdies on the day were the most in the field, and he sits in a four-way tie for sixth place, six shots behind leader Wanxi Sun of Seton Hall. Sun shot 67-68 for a 9-under 135.
Elsewhere for the Bison, James Key shot 75-73 in his collegiate debut, and he and Blake Wisdom (72-76) are both T-32nd at +4. Jack Gardner shot 75-79, and freshman James Robbins shot 79-78 in his first competition.
Seton Hall shot 277-280 for a 19-under 557, good for a seven-shot advantage over Yale. Third-place Lafayette is well back at 1-over 577.
The third and final round is set for Sunday morning.
