Bison Post Best Score of Weekend in Final Round at Colgate

RESULTS
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Led by a 1-under-par 71 from Blake Wisdom, the Bucknell men's golf team closed out the Alex Lagowitz Memorial with a 2-over 290 team score, its best of the weekend, and finished in ninth place. Jackson Bussell followed up his second-round 69 with a 73 on Sunday and ended up T-6th in a field of 91 players.
Wisdom finished T-24th, with his final-round 71 coming on the heels of Saturday's 72-76 showing. Wisdom flew out of the gates in Sunday's shotgun, starting eagle-birdie on holes 12 and 13. He went on to add three more birdies to his card and finished in red numbers on the day.
Bussell led the field with 11 birdies through 36 holes, and he added four more on Sunday. His 15 birdies on the week ended up one shy of medalist Wanxi Sun of Seton Hall. Sun shot 67-68-70 for an 11-under 205, good for a five-shot win over Villanova's Ryan Palmer.
Bussell was one of three players to finish at 2-under 214.
Freshman James Key wrapped up a nice debut weekend with an even-par 72. Key opened with 75-73 on Saturday and finished T-27th at 5-over for the week. He made 14 pars and two birdies with only two bogeys in the final round.
Jack Gardner also finished with his best score of the week, a 74 that was highlighted by three birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back nine. Also for the Bison on Sunday, Josh Holtschlag shot 76 and James Robbins 81.
With three players finishing in the top six, including the medalist Sun, Seton Hall ran away with the team title. The Pirates posted a 23-under total of 841, with runner-up Yale well off the pace at 853. Rhode Island (868), Lafayette (872), and Villanova (872) rounded out the top five.
Bucknell will be back in action on Sept. 17-18 at the Cornell/Temple Invitational at the 1912 Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
