Bucknell won its second straight Patriot League game to improve to 2-1 in the conference, and the Bison are now back over .500 on the season at 5-4-1. Bucknell extended its home unbeaten streak to nine (8-0-1) dating back to last season and posted its largest margin of victory in 36 all-time meetings with Colgate. The Bison defeated the Raiders by 3-1 scorelines in 2007 and 2008, but this was their first three-goal win in series history and avenged a 3-0 loss in Hamilton last season.
"We set out really wanting to have a great start today, and we were able to do that," said head coach Kelly Cook, who is a former standout player at Colgate. "We made the most of our opportunities, and it makes a big difference when you are able to get that early goal. I'm very happy with how we played defensively, and Kaylee Donnelly and Jenna Hall were terrific in goal. We got contributions from the whole group today, and that is going to be big for us moving forward."
All three of Bucknell's goals on Saturday came on crosses from wide areas. The first came on a sublime corner kick from Teresa Deda, whose left-footed inswinger was headed home by Gearhart at the back post. Gearhart is now tied for the team lead with three goals on the season, while Deda picked up her team-leading fifth assist of the season and 17th of her career. The sophomore is now tied for fourth with Caitlin Holtz on Bucknell's career assists list.

Colgate's only bright moment in the first half came in the 29th minute, when Jenna Hall made a sparkling diving save on Ally Giovino. One minute later, it was Bucknell padding its lead at the other end.
Rylee Donaldson, best known for her goal-scoring prowess, provided the assist on Andican's first collegiate goal. Donaldson dribbled past her defender on the right wing and drove a cross in to Andican, who slammed home a header to make it 2-0.

In the 37th minute, Colgate tried to break out of its own end, but center back Olivia DeConinck won the ball back with a crunching tackle at midfield. Hannah Stuck then sent Kelley Francis in along the right alley, and her low cross was redirected home by Evans for her second goal of the season.
Here's Bucknell's third goal of the first half. It all started with a teeth-rattling tackle from Olivia DeConinck at midfield, and then Kelley Francis set up Reese Evans for a great finish! #rayBucknell

Bucknell piled up 11 corner kicks and outshot Colgate 14-3 over the first 45 minutes.
Cook substituted liberally in the second half with a tough non-league game coming up on Tuesday against Princeton. Every healthy field player saw action, and Kaylee Donnelly took over in goal and made six saves.
Colgate (1-7-2, 1-2-0 PL), which was coming off a good win over Boston University, saw more of the ball in the second half, but the Bison reserves were able to keep the clean sheet. Donnelly made back-to-back tough saves on Giovino in the 67th minute, and her best of the night was a diving stop on Sara Anelli with 10 to play.
Bucknell nearly added to its lead on a couple of occasions in the second half. Just four minutes in, Deda danced around the Colgate defense and seemed to have an open goal, but keeper Grace Poncsak dangled a leg and got just enough on Deda's shot to keep it out.
Andican smothered a Colgate fullback's pass and broke in alone on goal in the 74th minute. She beat the keeper with her shot but it just skipped wide of the right post.
Bucknell finished with a 23-13 shot advantage and a 14-8 edge in corner kicks.
This was Bucknell's first home game in 23 days after playing five straight on the road. The Bison will be home twice more next week, facing Princeton on Tuesday and Holy Cross next Saturday.
