Men’s Tennis Claims Second Straight Patriot League Win with Sweep of Boston University

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team picked up wins at the top two doubles positions and the top three singles spots on the way to a 4-0 sweep of Boston University on Sunday. Coupled with Friday's 5-2 victory over Colgate, the Bison knocked off two Patriot League rivals this weekend and improved to 2-1 in conference play on the season.
The doubles point was wrapped up quickly, as Harrison Gold and Nick Mueller won 6-2 at No. 1, just after Michael Owen and Tim Zelikovsky won 6-0 at No. 2.
Gold, Mueller, and Owen all won their singles matches to clinch the team verdict. Gold was a straight-set winner over Dion Loutas at No. 1. Mueller won both of his sets in tiebreakers against Gabe Brown at No. 2, and then Owen capped the day with a three-set win over Adrian Pawlowski at No. 3.
Zelikovsky, who was aiming for his 10th straight win, won his opening set on Court 4, but the match went unfinished after the Bison clinched.
Bucknell returns to action on Tuesday at Bloomsburg at 3:30 p.m.
