Men’s Tennis Posts 5-2 Win at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team made the short trip over to Bloomsburg on Tuesday afternoon and returned home with a 5-2 victory over the Huskies. Harrison Gold, Nick Mueller, Tim Zelikovsky, and Per Astrom were all double winners as the Bison swept the three doubles matches and took four of the six singles bouts.
Gold, who was named the Patriot League Player of the Week earlier in the day, was a 6-2 winner alongside Charlie Nordahl at No. 1 doubles, and then Gold rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at first singles.
Zelikovsky and Mueller won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, and Astrom and Ink Chen teamed for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Mueller and Zelikovsky posted straight-set wins at second and third singles to clinch the match for Bucknell, and Astrom finished off the day with a three-set win at No. 6. The singles and doubles wins for Astrom were his first of the season.
Zelikovsky's singles victory was his 10th in a row, as he upped his season record to a team-best 17-7.
Next up for the Bison is another non-conference match at Mount St. Mary's on Friday at 2:30 p.m. That will be followed by Patriot League road encounters at Navy and Loyola on Saturday and Sunday.
