Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison enter the 2022 Patriot League Tournament as the No. 4 seed in the nine-team bracket. Bucknell and fifth-seeded Boston University square off in a quarterfinal match on Friday morning. No. 8 Holy Cross and No. 9 Lafayette meet on Thursday in a first-round matchup, and the winner will have a date with No. 1 seed and tournament host Navy in the quarters. The winner of that match will then play the Bucknell-Boston U. winner in Saturday's semifinal round.
- Bucknell went 4-3 in Patriot League duals this spring, with the wins coming against Colgate, Boston University, Loyola, and Lafayette. The Bison were beaten by Navy, Lehigh, and Army, who are the three squads ahead of them in the tournament seeding.
- The Bison had a two-match winning streak halted with a 4-1 loss to Lehigh at the Central PA Tennis Center last Saturday. Harrison Gold and Nick Mueller were victorious at No. 1 doubles, and Tim Zelikovsky kept his long winning streak alive when he posted a straight-set win at No. 4 singles.
- Zelikovsky enters the postseason with a 14-match singles winning streak. Zelikovsky is 15-4 in dual matches, including an 11-1 mark at No. 4 singles and a 6-0 record against Patriot League opponents. His 21-7 overall record, including the fall tournament slate, is also the best on the squad.
- Harrison Gold has made an impact in his first season with the Bison, playing both No. 1 singles and doubles. He has won four of his five Patriot League matches in singles, and this spring he is 14-4 at first doubles, teaming with Zelikovsky (5-3), Charlie Nordahl (4-1), and Nick Mueller (5-0).
- As a team, Bucknell is 17-6 at No. 1 doubles this spring.
- Michael Owen's 12 dual-match victories are second-most on the team behind Zelikovsky. Mueller and Gold are next with eight each.
- The Terriers have had a tough spring with a 3-17 overall record, but a couple of April Patriot League wins over Colgate and Holy Cross were enough to move them up to the No. 5 seed for the PL Tournament.
- Jonah Dickson has a team-best 7-10 record in duals, playing in the 1-4 spots in the lineup. Dickson has played No. 1 singles in each of the last five matches.
- Bucknell defeated Boston University 4-0 on Apr. 3 at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Bison picked up wins at the first two doubles spots and top three singles flights to secure the victory.
- Harrison Gold/Nick Mueller at No. 1 and Michael Owen/Tim Zelikovsky at No. 2 made quick work of their Terrier opponents in doubles. In singles, Gold defeated Dion Loutas 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1; Mueller edged Gabe Brown 7-6, 7-6 in a tight match at No. 2; and Owen was a three-set winner over Adrian Pawlowski at No. 3.
- Host Navy is the top seed for the tournament, followed by Lehigh, Army, Bucknell, Boston University, Colgate, Loyola, Holy Cross, and Lafayette.
- Quarterfinal matches are slated for 8:30 a.m. (Navy vs. Holy Cross or Lafayette), 10:15 a.m. (Bucknell vs. Boston U.), 12:45 p.m. (Army vs. Colgate), and 3:15 p.m. (Lehigh vs. Loyola).
- Semifinal matches will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the championship set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
- The league champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The USNA Tennis courts are located just inside Gate 1 at the U.S. Naval Academy. Matches will move to the Tose Family Tennis Center should poor weather force play indoors. Please note that for the matches being played on the USNA Tennis Courts, fans without a Department of Defense-approved ID card will not be allowed to drive onto The Yard. Those fans must park outside of the USNA gates and walk through the Gate 1 security center. No matter how someone accesses the USNA, those aged 18 and older must present a photo ID card to gain entry, and those aged 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
