Men's Tennis Closes out Regular Season with 4-1 Loss to Lehigh

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Tim Zelikovsky kept his winning streak alive at No. 4 singles, but the Bucknell men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Lehigh on Saturday afternoon in a match that was moved indoors to the Central PA Tennis Center.
Lehigh improved to 7-1 in Patriot League play while the Bison fell to 4-3, and now both teams will begin preparations for next week's Patriot League Tournament in Annapolis, Md.
Harrison Gold and Nick Mueller picked up a 6-3 win over Zack Elliott and Gary Fishkin at No. 1 doubles, but Lehigh came back to win the next two to take the doubles point.
The Bison got on the board when Zelikovsky won his 14th straight singles match, 6-3, 6-3 over Fishkin on Court 4. Zelikovsky is now 15-4 in duals, 6-0 against Patriot League opponents, and 21-7 overall this season.
Lehigh won both matches at the bottom of the lineup, and then Matt Kleiman clinched it by winning a second-set tiebreaker from Mueller at No. 2.
Gold at No. 1 and Owen at No. 3 were both locked up in tight matches when the verdict was cinched for the Mountain Hawks.
Patriot League Tournament seeds will be announced early next week. All nine teams participate in the event, with the eighth and ninth seeds squaring off in the opening round on Thursday, Apr. 28. The remainder of the field gets going on Friday.
