About the Bison
- Bucknell's final tuneup prior to the Patriot League Championship is Villanova's Wildcat Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Radnor Valley CC.
- Bucknell is enjoying a strong spring season, with a 292.0 team average and three top-3 finishes. The Bison began the spring with a runner-up finish at the Veterans Intercollegiate in Florida; they posted two sub-par team scores in an eighth-place finish at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona; they placed third out of 21 teams at the Battle at Rum Pointe; and last week they took third at the ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, finishing one shot out of a playoff.
- The Bison closed with a 3-under 285 team score last week at Lafayette's tournament. It was Bucknell's third under-par team round of the year. Blake Wisdom led the way with a 5-under 67, one shy of his career high and two shy of the school record. Wisdom was the tournament runner-up. Jason Lohwater also broke par with a final-round 71, one day after Jackson Bussell led the team with a 69. Bussell finished T-5th and Lohwater T-11th.
- Lohwater has been terrific in his final season in Orange & Blue. He has shot even-par or better in six of his last seven rounds (70-70-72-69-72-75-71), highlighted by a season-best 69 in the opening round at Rum Pointe, and is a combined 5-under over the last three tournaments.
- Lohwater's T-3rd finish at Rum Pointe is his career best. He finished T-10th in the previous event in Arizona.
- Wisdom's 67 last time out lowered his spring scoring average to a team-best 72.3. Lohwater is a close second at 72.5, followed by Bussell at 73.5. Over the full season, Bussell leads the way with a 72.8 average, followed by Lohwater at 73.5.
- This week's lineup features Wisdom, Bussell, Lohwater, John Bradbeer, and Jack Gardner. Michael Rudnick will play as an individual. The Bison will be in the first group out, paired with Marquette, Long Island, and Villanova.
- Bucknell has claimed the Patriot League Player of the Week after all four of its spring tournaments, including Wisdom last week. Wisdom and Lohwater have each captured the honor twice this spring.
- The Bison competed in five fall events, highlighted by a win at the Howard Bison Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Bucknell Invitational.
- Bucknell has been a regular in this event in recent years, with the first appearance coming in 2012. The Bison have appeared in the Wildcat Invitational 10 times, with the 2020 version canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Bucknell's best-ever finish here came just last year. The Bison finished third out of 15 teams after posting scores of 282-295. Blake Wisdom and Chris Tanabe both finished in a tie for sixth place with 36-hole totals of 143 (+3).
- St. John's is the defending champion. The Red Storm logged a 36-hole total of 573, followed by Temple with 574 and Bucknell with 577.
- The Wildcat Invitational is Bucknell's last event prior to the Patriot League Championship, which will be held Apr. 29-May 1 at the Steel Club in Hellertown, Pa.
