Ramos and Forker Highlight Day Two of Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track & field completed day two of the Bison Outdoor Classic on Friday, and highlighting the meet for the Orange & Blue were a pair of outstanding finishes in distance events by seniors Ashlyn Ramos and Karly Forker. Ramos was Bucknell's highest-placing athlete of the meet so far as she took fourth overall in the 10000 late Friday evening. Forker cracked the school's all-time performance list in the 1500.
Ramos ran the 10k in 34:53.92, which is a time that has only been eclipsed by three athletes in school history including herself. Ramos already holds the Bucknell record (34:04.76) in the event. Her fourth-place finish on Friday came among a tough field of 40 athletes.
Forker took 10th out of 64 finishers in the 1500 with a 4:27.68. Her time places her fourth on the all-time top 10 list and beats her previous best by nearly six seconds.
Joining Ramos with a top five finish at the meet was senior Gianna Macones, who placed fifth in the long jump with an 18-6. She was among 61 other competitors in the event, including teammates Lila Gaughan (18th, 17-10.75) and Madison Libby (21st, 17-9.5).
The Bison also saw a pair of strong finishes in the 3000 steeplechase, as Ally Clarke grabbed 11th of 35 finishers with an 11:24.85 and Asta Rustad took 12th with an 11:25.94.
Other notable finishes included Abby Whitaker, who placed 10th out of 40 in the discus with a mark of 141-5, and Mia Bellucci, who ran a 17:35.57 in the 5000 to place 32nd out of 59 finishers.
Abigail Dunne wrapped up the heptathlon on Friday and finished 14th, taking seventh in the 800 (2:30.85), 15th in the long jump (13-9.75) and 15th in the javelin (71-0).
Bucknell wraps up the final day of the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday. Events are scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. with the javelin.
