About the Bison
• Bucknell women's track & field is set to host the 2022 Bison Outdoor Classic. It's the first of two outdoor meets the Bison are hosting this spring. Bucknell has not held the Outdoor Classic since 2019. Friday and Saturday's portions of the meet will be broadcast on FloTrack.
• The Bison competed at the Lehigh Invitational last weekend and placed in the top five in a number of events, including a win in the pole vault by first-year Karly Renn. Renn, who shined during the indoor season, cleared the fourth-best mark in school history on Saturday with a 12-1.5. She was one of many field athletes who are coming off strong performances in Bethlehem.
• Joining Renn in the pole vault was Jennifer Scott, who is tied for sixth all-time in the event. Scott placed fifth (11-7.75) in the pole vault at Lehigh.
• Abby Kates added a second-place finish for the Bison in the high jump (5-3.75), and Riley Beebe took second in the javelin with a personal-best 133-11.
• Four of the top five 400 hurdles spots were occupied by Bison, including second-place Michaela Bracken (1:03.04). Bracken was followed by Mikayla Horvath (3rd, 1:05.53), Ella Derstine (4th, 1:06.02) and Abigail Dunne (5th, 1:07.20).
• Siobhan O'Sullivan, who recorded the eighth-best shot put mark in school history earlier in the season, finished third at the Lehigh meet with a 44-7.5. Also placing third in the throws was Abby Whitaker in discus (139-3).
• Bucknell's 4x100 team earned a third-place finish last weekend, and the relay teams as a whole have excelled throughout the outdoor season. It was the Bison relays that helped the team finish third out of 38 teams at the Colonial Relays two weeks ago.
• At the William & Mary meet, the Bison won the distance medley relay (11:55.58) and placed second in both the 4x100 (47.23) and the 4x400 (3:47.91). Bucknell's 4x100 squad of Bridget Lalonde, Meghan Quinn, Gianna Macones and Karen Hull already ranks sixth in program history after running a 47.15 earlier in the season.
• Quinn has also moved up the top 10 list in the 100 and 200 this spring. Joining her in the record books with a top 10 spot in high jump was Karen Hull , who is now tied for eighth all time with a mark of 5-5.75.
• At the 2019 Bison Outdoor Classic, Bucknell won the javelin, 100 and the heptathlon.
Coach Donner's Take
"We are very proud and excited to be hosting the Bison Outdoor Classic once again after a two-year break due to the pandemic. The meet is as big as it has ever been, and the quality of competition is top notch in all events. It ranks as one of the premier meets in the country for this particular weekend. All the events are stacked with NCAA qualifiers for all three divisions. I believe Friday night might just be the largest distance carnival in the country with approximately 1,000 runners competing in the 1500 meter, 3000 meter steeplechase, 5000 meter and 10000 meter. The warm temperatures in the day will be great for the sprinters, jumpers and throwers, and the cooler temperatures in the evening should be perfect for the distance runners. Teams from all over the country will congregate in Lewisburg looking for quality competition and they will get it right here."
