Bucknell Women's Water Polo Returns for Two CWPA Games This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University women's water polo team will return to competition for the first time since March 17 when it takes on Mount St. Mary's and Michigan in the penultimate weekend of the regular season.
Bucknell opens Saturday morning with a rematch against The Mount and Michigan. Live stats will be available here.
- The Bison are coming off a five-game road trip in California, going 2-3. Bucknell took wins over Austin College and La Verne, and dropped three contests against San Diego State, UC San Diego, and Long Beach State.
- In Bucknell's win over the Kangaroos, Chloe Smith scored a career-best four goals to lead all scorers, while Emma Molaski also added a pair of goals. Defensively, Annika Lampen had a fantastic outing, also setting a new career high with 15 saves.
- The game marked the seventh time this season that Bucknell has held its opponents to under ten goals this season.
- The Bison will look to solidify their positioning in the MAWPC standings, where they currently sit in fifth with a 2-6 record in conference games. Princeton (6-0) currently leads the standings, followed by Brown (5-2) and Michigan (4-0). The Wolverines will play the Tigers twice in the next two weeks in games with implications for seeding for the CWPA Championships hosted by Bucknell on April 22-24.
- In Bucknell's win over La Verne, seniors Paige Furano and Larissa Hodzic led the way with a combined five goals, while Smith also continued her excellent stretch with another two goals. Bella Moynihan also added two goals, while Megan LaCroix and Isabelle Monaghan each found the back of the cage. On the defensive end, Moynihan and Monaghan also combined for two steals each.
- Bucknell will meet The Mount and Michigan for the second time this season, splitting the two matchups. Bucknell took a 16-8 win over The Mount at Kinney on February 27 and fell to Michigan 14-4 in Ann Arbor on March 5.
- In Bucknell's victory over The Mount, the Bison scored a season-best 16 goals, opening the game with a 5-0 run. Sam Gove and Lampen split the goalkeeping duties in the game, while Monaghan led all scorers with four goals as nine different Bison found the back of the cage.
- Bucknell is seeking its first win against the Wolverines, holding an 0-29 record in the all-time series between the two schools. Furano was Bucknell's lone multi-goal scorer in the defeat against the Wolverines, scoring twice.
- After the two games on Saturday, the Bison will look ahead to the final weekend of the regular season against Harvard and Brown, both true road contests. Bucknell is 1-4 in true road games this season, with the lone win coming against La Verne. The Bison have posted a .500 record or better in each of the past three seasons in road contests.
