HANOVER, N.H. – Tim Zelikovsky won his sixth singles match in a row, but host Dartmouth took all the rest and defeated the Bucknell men's tennis team 6-1 on Saturday at the Boss Tennis Center.
Zelikovsky was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Alex Knox-Jones at No. 4 singles. Zelikovsky's career-long winning streak ups his team-best dual-match record to 7-4, and he is 5-1 since moving to the fourth spot at the start of February. He also took the team lead with 13 singles wins, including the fall tournament schedule.
Zelikovsky and Harrison Gold also came in with a five-match winning streak at No. 1 doubles, but that streak came to an end with a narrow 7-5 loss to Anders Gibbons and Dominik Pauli.
Gold came back to play a three-setter against Carlos Guerrero Alvarez at No. 1 singles, but Alvarez prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.
Gibbons clinched the match for the Big Green (6-3) with a win over Nick Mueller at No. 2 singles.
Bucknell (3-8) will next head to Florida for four matches during Spring Break, starting with a date with Atlantis in Miami on March 13.
