Bucknell at a Glance
- The Bison have a pair of Patriot League matches on tap this weekend, with both set to be played indoors at the Central PA Tennis Center in South Williamsport.
- Bucknell's only other Patriot League contest to date was a tight 4-2 loss to Army on March 19 in South Williamsport. Harrison Gold at No. 1 and Tim Zelikovsky at No. 4 were victorious against Army, and Nick Mueller at No. 2 was even in the third set when the match was clinched. The Black Knights pulled out a couple of three-setters at the bottom of the lineup to win the match.
- Most recently, Bucknell held out its top two players in the lineup in Gold and Mueller in a 4-3 loss to Chestnut Hill last Sunday in Hershey, Pa. Michael Owen and Zelikovsky were victorious at 1 and 2 singles, and Charlie Nordahl picked up a three-set win at No. 6.
- Zelikovsky continued his stellar sophomore year. The Canadian has won eight straight singles matches and is 9-4 in duals and 15-7 overall in 2021-22. Zelikovsky typically plays in the No. 4 singles spot, where he is 7-1 on the season. Sunday's win came in his first match in the No. 2 slot.
- Zelikovsky and Gold are 5-3 at No. 1 doubles this spring.
- Mueller and Owen are tied for second on the team with 12 wins over the full season.
- The Bison are looking for some revenge against Colgate, as the Raiders knocked the Bison out of last year's Patriot League Tournament with a 4-3 verdict in the quarterfinals. Bucknell won 4-1 in Hamilton three weeks earlier.
- Colgate comes in with a 7-6 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Raiders won 6-1 at Holy Cross on March 20, then fell at Lehigh 6-1 last Sunday.
- The Colgate-Lehigh match was tighter than the score indicates. Colgate won the doubles point but then lost three singles matches in three sets and another 7-5, 7-5.
- The Terriers have struggled to a 1-14 record, albeit against a very challenging schedule. Their lone win was a 4-3 verdict over Sacred Heart on March 20.
- Boston University's only Patriot League encounter to date is a 4-0 loss at Navy last Sunday.
- Jonah Dickson has a team-best 6-8 dual-match record, including a 5-3 mark in the 2-4 spots in the lineup (1-5 at No. 1).
- The Terriers finished 3-6 last season, falling 4-3 to Lehigh in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals. Boston University graduated two All-Patriot League honorees from that squad in David Bogatin and Owen Lu.
- After the two home matches this week, Bucknell embarks on a five-match road swing. The Bison will play non-conference tilts at Bloomsburg and Mount St. Mary's before visiting three straight Patriot League rivals in Navy, Loyola, and Lafayette.
