Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Verdict to Chestnut Hill

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Bucknell men's tennis team, playing without the top two players in its singles lineup, fell by a narrow 4-3 margin to Chestnut Hill on Sunday at Hershey Racquet Club.

Michael Owen and Tim Zelikovsky slid up to the No. 1 and 2 spots in the lineup in the absence of Harrison Gold and Nick Mueller. They teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles and then both won tight singles matches.

Owen won 7-5, 7-6 over Tom Pitchley at first singles, and Zelikovsky won a three-setter from Noah Cutting at No. 2 for his eighth singles win in a row. Zelikovsky is now 15-7 on the season and 9-4 in duals.

Bucknell's third point came from Charlie Nordahl at No. 6 singles. He pulled out the third set 7-5 to defeat Mark Gladkyy.

The Griffins, who are now 5-2 on the season, won the doubles point and then grabbed straight-set wins at 3-4-5 singles.

Bucknell (4-14) has a big week ahead, with Patriot League home matches against Colgate on Friday and Boston University on Sunday.
