Men’s Golf in Third Place After First Round at Rum Pointe

RESULTS
BERLIN, Md. – Jason Lohwater fired a 3-under-par 69 on Saturday to lead the Bucknell men's golf team to a 296 team total in the first round of the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona at Rum Pointe Seaside Links. The Bison, who are the defending champions in this event, are in third place in a 20-team field after the first of two rounds.
Rhode Island posted a 3-under 285 to open up a 10-stroke lead on second-place Rider. The Bison are one shot behind the Broncs and just one in front of Fairfield and Colgate. Only four shots separate second from eighth place.
Lohwater started his day on the fourth hole and was sitting at even par through 15 holes before finishing with three straight birdies at holes 1-2-3, which include a par-4, a par-3, and a par-5.
Lohwater was one of six players in the field to break par. He is one of three at 3-under, two behind the leader Samuel King of Cornell. Rhode Island's Jordan Brajcich and Bryson Richards also shot 69.
Backing up Lohwater for the Bison were Blake Wisdom with a 74, Michael Rudnick with a 75, Jackson Bussell with a 78, and Jake Maddaloni with a 79.
The second and final round is slated for Sunday morning.
