RESULTS
BERLIN, Md. – Jason Lohwater finished one shot off the lead as the Bucknell men's golf team wrapped up a solid weekend with a third-place finish at the Battle at Rum Pointe. Playing in chilly, windy conditions on the Eastern shore of Maryland, the Bison backed up their first-round 296 with a 297 on Sunday.
Bucknell's 593 total was tied with Rider and Fairfield for third-place in the 21-team field, once shot ahead of sixth-place Cornell. Rhode Island won the tournament with a 1-under-par total of 575. Harvard finished second at 589. Bucknell was the best of the four Patriot League teams in the field, as Colgate (601) placed eighth, Lafayette (607) 12th, and Holy Cross (621) 18th.
Lohwater birdied his final three holes to post a 3-under 69 in Saturday's opening round, and he followed it up with a 72 in round two. His 3-under total of 141 for 36 holes put him in a tie for third place, just one shot behind Rhode Island's Jordan Brajcich and Cornell's Samuel King. Rhode Island's Bryson Richards also finished at 3-under, as only five of the 120 players in the field broke par in the challenging scoring conditions.
Lohwater's final round was highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 third hole. He went on to add birdies at holes 13 and 17 and finished even on the day.
Blake Wisdom posted his second straight 74 and finished T-17th with a 4-over total of 148. Wisdom had three birdies on Sunday. The Bison also counted a 75 from Michael Rudnick and a 76 from Jackson Bussell.
Bucknell returns to action on Apr. 10-11 at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at the Steel Club.
