Men's Golf Vying to Defend Title at Rum Pointe

About the Bison

After training in Florida during Spring Break last week, the Bison return to tournament action for the first time in five weeks when they head to the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona. Bucknell will be looking to defend its 2021 title in the event, as will last year's medalist Jackson Bussell.
Bucknell's most recent appearance came at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley GC in Arizona March 20-22. The Bison posted 5-under 283 in both the first and third rounds and finished eighth in the event. The 5-under 18-hole score is tied for third-best in school history in relation to par. The 863 composite is the fourth-best 54-hole score in school history, and the 1-under total is second-best in relation to par in team annals. The Bison posted a 6-under 858 on the same course two years earlier.
Fall five Bison posted at least one round of even-par or better in Arizona. Jason Lohwater had three, posting 70-70-72 on the par-72 track on the way to a T-10th finish. The round of the week was a 4-under 68 from Jack Gardner. Jake Maddaloni finished with a career-best 69, and Blake Wisdom closed with a 70.
Wisdom has posted a red number in three of his six spring rounds and leads the team with a 72.5 spring scoring average. Including the fall season, Bussell's 72.4 and Lohwater's 73.9 lead the way.
The Bison opened the spring Feb. 6-8 at the Bucknell Veterans Intercollegiate at Orange County National in Florida. Bucknell finished second among eight teams in the field, trailing only Siena.
Wisdom was the low Bison at the Veterans Intercollegiate. The junior shot 74-71-71 to finish in ninth place, and he was later named Patriot League Golfer of the Week.
This week's lineup features Lohwater, Maddaloni, Wisdom, Michael Rudnick, and Bussell. Josh Holtschlag will be competing as an individual.
The Bison competed in five fall events, highlighted by a win at the Howard Bison Invitational and a runner-up finish at the Bucknell Invitational.

The Battle at Run Pointe

Bucknell won this event last spring, topping the 10-team field with a 36-hole total of 588 (287-301). The Bison finished three strokes ahead of runner-up Youngstown State and also defeated Patriot League foes Lafayette and Navy.
Jackson Bussell won his first career individual title, posting 71-72 for a 1-under total of 143. Bussell made a birdie on the third playoff hole to defeat Iona's Justin Burkhamer.
