About the Bison
• The Bison enter the week 3-14, but they picked up a 1-0 victory over Western Michigan on Sunday. Bucknell also has wins over Marist and UNCW this season.
• Bucknell faces three opponents it has never seen this week in North Florida, Southeast Louisiana and UT-Chattanooga. The Bison will play a doubleheader against the Ospreys in Jacksonville on Wednesday before heading to Tennessee to take part in the Chatty's Patty's Tournament to wrap up its spring break slate down south.Â
• Sophomore Zoie Smith had the game-winning RBI against Western Michigan on Sunday and added RBIs against Toledo and Siena over the weekend as well. She went 2-for-3 in Friday's game against the Saints.
• Junior Chase Knapp posted another multi-hit game on Tuesday, going 2-for-3. Knapp remains Bucknell's home runs leader this season.
• Also posting multi-hit games at the Madeira Beach Invitational were senior Nicole Rivait and rookie MaKenzie Hilling. Rivait leads the Bison in batting average this season.
• Senior pitcher Kelly Toomey earned her third win of the season in the Western Michigan game. It was the also the sixth complete game and the second shutout of Toomey's career with the Bison.
Scouting the Opponents/Series History
• North Florida – The Ospreys are off to a hot 21-6 start this season and went 2-1 over the weekend in their first conference action against FGCU. The Ospreys have also faced one Patriot League opponent, Holy Cross, going 2-0 against the Crusaders. North Florida is batting .274 as a team, led by senior Paige Pfent's .375 average. Fifth-year Erin Kyle has started a team-high 10 games and owns a 1.77 ERA. The Osprey's have a team ERA of 1.77.
• Wednesday will be the first-ever meeting between Bucknell and North Florida.
• Southeast Louisiana – The Lions are 14-7, most recently defeating South Dakota 13-5. They'll play three games before facing the Bison on Friday. Southeast Louisiana is hitting .322 as a team, while sophomore Cam Goodman (.426) and junior Madison Rayner (.407) are both hitting over .400. Senior Heather Zumo has made 10 starts in the circle and is 9-1 on the year with a 1.42 ERA. The Lions' team ERA is 3.33.
• Southeast Louisiana and Bucknell have never played one another.
• Chattanooga – The Mocs are 13-12 on the season and have won three straight, including a doubleheader sweep over Georgia State on Tuesday. The Mocs are batting .276 as a team, and junior Emily Coltharp sports a team-best .365 average. Junior Brooke Parrott has started 10 games in the circle for Chattanooga and has a 1.96 ERA. The team possesses a 1.44 overall ERA.
• Chattanooga and Bucknell will meet for the first time this weekend.
Up NextÂ
The Bison play their home and Patriot League opener against Holy Cross next weekend. The Crusaders visit Becker Field in Lewisburg for a three-game series on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon and then return for a single game at noon on Sunday. Bucknell went 9-14-1 in league play last season.
