BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell's Nick Crovatto captured his third Patriot League GEICO Faceoff Specialist of the Week nod, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Crovatto, who has now won three of the young 2022 campaign's four Faceoff Specialist of the Week awards, was recognized following his latest stellar performance in the x. During the Bison men's lacrosse team's 15-7 victory at Marist, he won 17 of 24 faceoffs and collected a game-high 13 ground balls.
Crovatto's number of ground balls was one shy of the school standard he matched during Bucknell's previous game. He also caused two turnovers against the Red Foxes, tied for first among Bison.
Overall this season, Crovatto has gone 58 for 84 (.643) in the x. He has also collected 35 ground balls, 23 more than the next closest teammate and an impressive average of 8.75 per game.
Crovatto is the first Bison to win at least three Faceoff Specialist of the Week awards in a single campaign since Jarett Witzal captured four in 2016, which was the award's first season. Crovatto was previously recognized following Bucknell's season-opening win at Mercer and on the strength of his record-setting day against St. John's.
At Mercer, Crovatto won 11 of 19 faceoffs and also paced the Bison with seven ground balls. Against St. John's, he was even better, winning 18 of 22 faceoffs and matching Witzal's single-game record with 14 ground balls. He also assisted on two goals off of faceoff wins.
Crovatto and the Bison return to action on Saturday by hosting Binghamton at 1 p.m.
