LEXINGTON, Va. – Karen Hull moved up to sixth on Bucknell's all-time list in the 60 hurdles with an impressive third-place showing (8.94) at the VMI Invite on Saturday afternoon as Bucknell wrapped up its second day of competition.
"We had a very good day on the ladies' side. Our 4x400 won with an ECAC qualifying time, and we had a number of people finish in the top three. The two-day meet prepares us for the attrition of a league championship and many of our athletes are rounding into shape for leagues two weeks from now," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Hull, who broke into the Bucknell top ten earlier this year, smashed her previous personal best of 9.07 in taking third overall behind a pair of runners from Wofford. Teammate Abby Eisold also qualified for the finals on Saturday, finishing seventh overall (9.21).
Bucknell also had a strong showing in the 800, as Karly Forker (2:17.28) and Anna Posh (2:17.98) picked up the top two spots in the event. Hailey Tabar (2:23.07) was ninth.
In the 3000, first-year Lauren Trapani led a 1-2 finish for the Bison (10:15.94) along with Abby Paczewski (10:20.74). Emily Deschler (4th, 10:34.18) also placed in the top five for the Bison in the event.
Meghan Quinn posted a solid time in the 60, finishing fourth overall (7.82). The sophomore ranks third on Bucknell's all-time list with her personal best of 7.73. Gianna Macones also competed in the finals of the 60, finishing in a tie for fifth (7.90), just off her personal best mark of 7.88 that ranks tenth on Bucknell's all-time list.
That wasn't all for Quinn, however, as she went on to place third in the 200 (25.62), not too far off from her personal-best time of 25.51 that ranks ninth on Bucknell's all-time list. Bridget Lalonde (5th, 25.78) also had a strong showing.
In the throws, Siobhan O'Sullivan (45-1) and Abby Whitaker (43-10) finished second and third, respectively, in a strong outing for the Bison. Christine Ajao (12th, 37-2.25) also placed in the top 15.
Macones, one day after breaking into Bucknell's top ten in the triple jump, posted a solid leap of 18-6 in the long jump to finish third overall. Teammate Lila Gaughan was fourth (18-3.75).
Bucknell's 4x400 squad of Michaela Bracken, Lalonde, Mikayla Horvath, and Jessie Castellano won the event with a solid time of 3:50.59 to finish just ahead of second-place George Mason (3:51.03).
Nora Bennett posted a third-place finish in the mile (5:08.52), while Mackenzie Turner (4th, 1:17.43) had an impressive showing in the 500. Colleen Linko (7th, 1:19.51) and Katherine Loew (9th, 1:20.28) also posted top-ten marks.
Bucknell returns to action on Friday, February 18 when it hosts the Bucknell Tune Up.
