First Day Results
"Our women had a very good day one, as we had some very high placing in just about every event, including a number of ladies who made our all-time top 10 list, and it's always good to win an event such as Hull in the high jump, Bellucci in the 5000, and 4x800 relay. It's great to have two in the 60 finals and two in the 60 hurdle finals. Although Ashlyn Ramos is not happy with her time, breaking a 5000m school record is always special," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Bucknell went 1-2 in the 5000, with junior Mia Bellucci grabbing first with an 18:05.48. She was followed by teammate and second-place finisher Ally Clarke, who ran a personal-best 18:07.38. Bucknell also earned a win in high jump, with Karen Hull clearing 5-5 to tie for seventh on Bucknell's all-time top 10 list. Bucknell also took second and third in the event.
Hull also moved up the top 10 list in the 60m hurdles, running an 8.95 to land sixth in school history. She and teammate Abby Eisold (9.11) both advanced out of the prelims and will run in the finals tomorrow.
Bucknell grabbed a win in the 4x800 as well. Mackenzie Turner, Abby Paczewski, Mariana Engleby and Hailey Tabar ran a 9:39.58 to beat out two other teams.
Jessie Castellano took second in the 400 with a 57.23, Mikayla Horvath took sixth with a personal-best 58.73, and Bridget Lalonde finished seventh (58.96).
Gianna Macones entered Bucknell's top 10 list in triple jump with a mark of 38-11.75, which ranks seventh all-time and was good enough for second place at the meet. Lexi Gray went fifth in the triple jump with a 37-6.
Macones also qualified for Saturday's 60m finals, placing eight in the semis with a 7.89 and finishing just behind teammate Meghan Quinn (7th, 7.82). Also notable was a fourth-place finish in the 1000 from Lucie Kubinski (3:06.78) and a fifth-place effort by Eva Lindner (3:08.32).
Lastly, Jennifer Scott moved up from eighth into a tie for fifth on the top 10 list in pole vault, clearing 11-11.75. She took third place at the meet.
Events continue at VMI on Saturday with the mile beginning at 10 a.m.
