Bison Swimmers Compete at the U.S. Open
• The Bucknell men's and women's swimming & diving teams saw five athletes compete at the 2022 U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C. this week. It was Bucknell's first time sending athletes to the meet since 2019.
• The U.S. Open is held in the 50-meter-long course format, which is the same format as the Oylmpics and other major international meets. The event is being held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
• The last time Bucknell swimmers attended the U.S. Open in 2019, Catherine Craig competed in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.33) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:42.70). Maggie Wyngowski '21 swam the 200-meter IM (2:21.21) and 400-meter IM (4:59.50).
• Some of the top collegiate swimmers as well as elite Olympic and World athletes will also be in attendance.
Bison U.S. Open Results
Bucknell wrapped up its stay at the U.S. Open on Saturday with Braden Beagle and Will Hedges competing in the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, respectively. Beagle placed 33rd out of 37 finishers with a 2:08.29 in his second race of the weekend. Beagle, who is off to a strong start in his freshman campaign, recorded a 1:00.02 to place 46th out of 48 in the 100 backstroke. Hedges, a sophomore, took 45th out of 50 with a 2:27.72.
Sophomore Chris Kopac was first in the water for the Bison on Thursday, recording a 4:10.90 in the 400 freestyle to place 40th. He added to his weekend resume with a 1:54.83 in the 200 freestyle on Friday, finishing 42nd among the elite field of 55. Junior Noah Basista took part in the 100 breaststroke, placing 62nd of 67 with a 1:06.52.
