HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Bucknell volleyball team put forth a solid effort in four sets on the road against Patriot League leader Colgate on Saturday, but the Raiders came out on top 3-1 to hand the Bison their second loss of the weekend. Bucknell (12-10, 5-8 PL) remains fifth in the Patriot League standings with three matches still on the schedule.
After a decisive 25-12 win by the Raiders in the opening frame, Bucknell battled back to a win in the second, fell 25-20 in the third and was close to grabbing the fourth set before ultimately losing it 25-23. Bucknell hit .190 for the match while Colgate was at a solid .278. The Bison also led 7-5 in blocks and 3-1 in service aces.

The Raiders opened the match by jumping out to a 7-2 lead and were dominant throughout the first set, seeing two 5-0 runs as the Bison committed eight attack errors.
The Bison flipped the script in the second and hit .294. After falling behind 6-2, they used a 4-0 run to get back within striking distance and eventually took the lead at 11-10. Another 4-0 run later in the set put Bucknell on top 19-16, and the Bison maintained the lead the rest of the way to even the match at 1-1.
While Bucknell continued to hit over .250 in the third, Colgate's offense caught fire and it rattled off 17 kills with just three attack errors in the 25-20 decision. The Raiders led wire-to-wire in the third, despite a 4-0 Bison run that brought them within two of tying at 16-14.
It was Bucknell with an early 2-0 lead in the fourth before a 4-0 Raiders run. The two teams were neck-and-neck most of the way and ended up even at 23-23, but Colgate added two consecutive kills to fend off a fifth set and improve to 12-1 in Patriot League play.
Sophomore libero Jordan Hardy, who leads the Patriot League in digs this season, ended up with 22 digs in the contest. Senior Sarina Singer added 18 digs as well.
