About Bucknell
- Bucknell hosts Boston U. for its final game of the regular season and its final game at Graham Field. Bucknell has already clinched a berth in the Patriot League tournament for a 15th consecutive season and could secure the No. 3 seed with a win over the Terriers.
- Boston, American and Lehigh have also clinched their spots in the 2022 Patriot League tournament.
- It's Senior Day at Graham Field on Sunday, and the Bison will be honoring six graduation members of the team; Alina Arko, Noor Kaur, Mackenzie Kile, Kayla Kisthardt, Clara McCormick, Maddie Rehak. The group has been a part of 28 overall victories, 14 Patriot League wins, and the program's first-ever league title in 2020-21.
- The Bison snapped a five-game losing skid with a 3-2 win over Lock Haven on Sunday. It was the team's first Sunday victory this season and its first non-league win since Sept. 9. Lily Neilson scored twice in the game, including a goal in the final five minutes to win it. Lock Haven led 13-8 in shots and 10-7 in penalty corners.
- Bucknell enters the final weekend of the regular season leading the Patriot League in assists per game (2.0). The Bison are also third in the league in goals per game (1.94) and sixth in goals allowed (2.75/G).
- Leading Bucknell's assists effort is Kile, whose 11 assists are one shy of her mark last season (12) that ranks third in program history. Kile is also currently third in the Bucknell record book in career assists (30). She's four shy of tying the school record.
- Also making her mark in the record book is Neilson, whose three goals last weekend brought her season total to a league-leading 13, which is tied for ninth in program history. The sophomore is already tied for seventh in school history with 28 goals in her career.
- Fellow sophomore Isabella Pavlides registered her sixth assist of the season against the Bald Eagles and is second on the roster with 12 points.
- Freshman Kira Leclercq has been among the top defenders in the Patriot League this fall. Along with her seven points on two goals and three assists, the Berlin, Germany native is second in the league with five defensive saves.
- Bucknell's Kayla Kisthardt was one of 38 student-athletes named to the 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Team last week. She joins Kaelyn Long '21 and Erin Zielinski '22 as recent Bucknell field hockey players to receive the honor. Kisthardt, a 2021 Second Team All-Patriot League selection, was one of three PL players voted to the squad this season.
- Bucknell was picked third in the 2022 Patriot League Field Hockey Preseason Poll. American finished first in the poll and was followed by Lafayette, which is how the standings ended up last fall.
- Bucknell is under the direction of first-year head coach Kelsey Kolojejchick. Kolojejchick, a former four-time All-American out of the University of North Carolina and a Junior Pan American Games gold medalist, arrived at Bucknell after spending the past four years as an assistant at Harvard.
- Boston is 8-8 overall and 4-1 in Patriot League play. The Terriers can become the sole regular-season champion and the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League tournament with a win over Bucknell. Boston's only loss in league play was to Lafayette on Oct. 15.
- The Terriers were picked fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after going 4-14 (2-4 PL) last season. It was just the second time Boston had missed the Patriot League tournament since it entered the league in 2013.
- Boston has faced two ranked opponents in its last two games. Most recently, the Terriers fell 3-1 at No. 21 Boston College. Before that, they won 5-2 over No. 23 Maine.
- In league play, the Terriers are third in goals per game (2.4) and are second in goals allowed per game (1.2). Senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly has started all 16 games and owns a .778 goals against average.
- The Terriers are led offensively by junior Tess Csejka, who has 19 points on nine goals and an assist.
- Head coach Sally Starr is in her 42nd season with the Terriers and has a record of 485-324 with the program. She's guided her teams to 14 NCAA tournament appearances and 12 conference titles.
- Starr served as Bucknell's head coach during the 1979 and 1980 seasons, posting a 19-14-2 record with the Orange & Blue.
- Boston leads the all-time series 11-4 since the two teams first met in 2011, but Bucknell has won each of the last three matchups.
- The Bison won 2-1 in overtime in Boston last season. Maddie Rehak opened the scoring with a goal in the 22nd minute, and Boston tied it up early in the fourth. Lily Neilson scored 1:09 into the extra period to seal the win. Bucknell led 13-11 in shots and 8-4 in penalty corners.
- Bucknell defeated the Terriers 2-1 in overtime in the 2020-21 Patriot League Championship as well.
- Rehak, a freshman at the time, scored the only goal in the Bison's 2019 win over the Terriers, which was Bucknell's first win over Boston since 2014. It snapped Boston's 17-game home winning streak over Patriot League opponents.
- Bucknell has not hosted the Terriers in Lewisburg since 2018.
The 2022 Patriot League Field Hockey Tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Nov. 3. The tournament will either be hosted by Boston U. or American. The championship game is set for Saturday, Nov. 5.
